It has been almost three whole weeks since the Not Guilty verdict of George Zimmerman was read on Saturday July 13, 2013 in Sanford, FL. As the world watched George Zimmerman be read the verdict for the killing of Travyon Martin in February 2012, the world instantly reacted in outrage from coast to coast. Most people believed that George Zimmerman in fact murdered Trayvon Martin not in self-defense as he claimed, but because he decided to take matters into his own hands in ending crime by potential black suspects in his neighborhood. To Trayvon's family, friends, and supporters, the killing of Martin was seen as an act of racism, and found the verdict to be unjustified.

In the past three weeks, we've seen interviews from George Zimmerman's brother and defense attorneys, the prosecution, as well as two of the juors from the trail, Trayvon Martin's friend and witness Rachel Jeantel, the Martin family attorney and both of Trayvon Martin's parents Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton. From every interview heard from both sides, it is obvious that much work has to be done by the way we view others, bridging a communication gap, and improvements with the law.

Even though Martin's parents did not seek justice for their then 17 year old son in the court of law, that has not stopped them from showing the world their tremendous strength and perseverance  through this entire process. They do not hesitate in telling the world that they will not stop seeking justice for their son. Since the ending of the trail, Trayvon's parents have been seen attending rallies and making television appearances. Martin's parents hope that their son's death can be a learning experience to everyone that we must better protect our children from ruthless people in the world that can take a life from an unarmed person and also that we must treat one another better. Martin's parents also show that there are many loop holes within the justice system that need to be reevaluated and refined so that it could potentially protect another person from going through what these two parents have had to experience over the past year.

The law that has become very well known since the death of Trayvon Martin "Stand Your Ground Law," has cause a ton of controversy and has even caused people such as Stevie Wonder to boycott the state of Florida until the law no longer exist. The "Stand Your Ground Law" is a law in which protects a person to use force in self defense in a situation in short, a law in which many thought helped George Zimmerman get off in court on the killing of Trayvon Martin. Monday, Martin's parent's attended a meeting in Florida with the National Bar Association trying to repeal the "Stand Your Ground Law" in the state of Florida. With all of the heat and pressure from the media and protestors around the country, people are hopeful that not only the "Stand Your Ground Law" will be critically analyzed but also gun laws in this country.

Trayvon Martin will never be forgotten and is added to a list of black males in America that have been killed and received no justice over their deaths. When will it end? It is sad to say, but I don't believe that the laws will bend much if any for these two grieving parents seeking peace in knowing how their son's life was taken.
