Actor James Avery best known for his role as Uncle Phil from the 90's hit sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" died Tuesday.
He played the stern Judge Phillip Banks along side Will Smith, Alfonzo Riberio, and Tatyana Ali for six seasons. Since the 90's Avery played in other roles, none as popular as Uncle Phil. His latest project he was working on was an indie film entitled Wish I Was Here.
James Avery was known to be ill for quite sometime. He passed away in a Los Angeles hospital due to complications from open-heart surgery.
