It seems that everyone is interested in the hottest set of
headphones on the market. Recently, Apple has acquired the notorious ‘Beats’ by
Dr. Dre, the collection that started out as a pair of expensive disc jockey
headphones, but soon expanded to earbuds, speakers, and laptops, among other
accessories. The deal, according to New
York Post, is reportedly $3 billion, equating to $2.6 billion in cash and
$400 million invested in stock.
There is a possibility that the acquisition of Beats is to
compete competitively with Samsung, who has their own line of speakers and
audio systems that Apple doesn’t yet have. More people want to have the ability
to buy headphones or even speakers from Apple and it may seem that the wait is
over. It could even be an overall update in store for the Apple interface,
which is due to launch a new iPhone soon.
Although those are just speculations, one fact comes from a press
release, “Music is such an important part of all of our lives… we keep investing
in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams,” said Apple CEO,
Tim Cook. The addition of Beats and
Beats Music is to simply help make the iTunes Radio and free steaming a better
and more appealing experience, according to iTunes’ Eddy Cue.
For those of you who don’t know, Beats Music is a
subscription-based online music streaming service. It gives a personalized
stream based off of expert music suggestions. The service offers a library of
20 million songs and is available as an app on phones and now comes with a
subscription through AT&T for $14.99 a month.
Apple’s acquisition may have been to pump up the volume and
increase iTunes’ sales, but it’s clear that many perks come with the addition
of Dr. Dre and partner Jimmy lovine’s company. As of now, Beats is offering a
free trial of service for paid iTunes users. If you want a phone to have the
latest music and the sleekest style, head to your local Apple store or visit

experience!
