1. Entertaining to Watch
LeBron is a man of theatrics! He is notarized, and sometimes criticized, for his "flopping" and ways of creating a call for the Heat's advantage. He's amazing with getting the defensive fouls and making plays that are constantly being replayed, seen and talked about well after the regulation 48-minute games. So many people hate on LeBron, but every night he still goes out and performs like he has something to prove.
2. "Power"-ful Forward
From the slam dunks that shake the house, to the drives inside the paint, LeBron knows how to create space and deliver powerful moves and plays. He's multifaceted in his skill level and can dominate the court if necessary.
3. James Makes Others Great
The greatest example of LeBron and his greatness is the Cleveland Cavaliers. James was able to put this team on the map and carry them to NBA playoffs his first season with the team. He was able to strengthen the franchise over the years and help bench players and starters become better overall players. The same holds true when he became a free agent and "took his talents to the South Beach." Miami became so powerful once the trio of DeWayne Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James was formed. Within two years a title was won by the trio and other players fed off the energy that James gave the team. He's proven to be a team player and whatever he's doing during practice has created a strong bond and made his teammates like, Battier, Chalmers, and Cole even better assets to the Heat roster.
4. The Michael Jordan of Our Generation
James is one of the most versatile players the league has seen since Michael Jordan himself. He has the ability to play any position and can defensively guard anyone. (Which isn't necessarily hard for the 6'8, 250 lb player) Although, Durant has better numbers when it comes to points per game average. LeBron has a higher field goal percentage (56.7%), offensive and defensive rebounds (1.1 and 5.9) and wasn't that far behind when it came to points per game (27.1).
In terms of an outstanding resume, LeBron's is lengthy. LeBron holds 4 MVP titles, is a 10x NBA All-Star, 2x NBA All-Star MVP, 6x NBA All-Star All Defensive, and a 3x Olympic Medalist! James also has 2 championship rings and is currently working on a 3-peat. And if that wasn't enough, he is also a man who means business. James has a contract worth $30 million dollars with Apple-Beats Electronics, his own app available on the Samsung Galaxy 5, a multitude of basketball gear (shoes, book bags, socks, etc.), and his own Sprite flavor! Talk about money!
5. He's Still in the Playoffs
Simple as that. If you're the titled MVP, it is expected that you at least make it to the NBA Finals and maybe even win the Championship. That's exactly what happened last year when LeBron was named MVP, as well as the year after that.
It seems like LeBron has really set the tone for the players we know and love today as well as for the future generation of basketball stars. He's making a legacy as we speak and we're only a witness to his testimony. We may sound a little biased to the self-proclaimed King James, but to each his own. The most hated, is still the most loved. Do you think Durant was fit for the MVP throne, or should he step aside and let James take over?
