This week the rap trio from Atlanta, GA, Migos released the very first trap musical entitled Bando. Since Migos began receiving radio spins and crept into our playlists, they have maintained an air of mystique. The group does not do many interviews and reveals very little about themselves in the few they do. However, this musical gives further insight into the back story of the lives of Quavo, Offset and Takeoff outside of the information they share through their music and lyrics.
The trap musical is an extremely creative way to formally introduce the group to the world. As previously mentioned, the group only discusses their past, prior to their music career, through their lyrics. In an age of transparency and reality shows, it is very difficult for fans to invest in artists who refrain from divulging their personal information. However, Migos found a clever way to tell their story on their terms with their music as the soundtrack. Furthermore, the musical provides clarity to their lyrics which are heavily filled with slang that most Americans would not otherwise comprehend.
The imagery provided by Complex Media was crisp and professional and the acting was surprisingly very good. If you are seeking a deep message and a moral story this may not be the musical for you, however, if you are a fan of Migos music and would like a further understanding of their history you will be in for a treat.
