XXL To Discontinue Print Editions

In a recent press release, Townsquare Media, which controls and owns over 300 media outlets within the United States,  has announced it's decision to stop printing XXL Magazine. After 17 years, this recent decision also applied to King and Hype Magazine. XXL's upcoming October/ November issue will be the magazines last print edition, but they will continue to maintain a strong digital presence within the hip-hop community. Bill Wilson, the chief content officer of Townsquare Media released a statement saying:

“The acquisition of XXL, King and Antenna from Harris Publications represents the continued growth of Townsquare Media’s national digital asset portfolio and our commitment to the cultivation of influential brands and original multimedia content in music and entertainment,” said Bill Wilson.
It is nice to know that XXL will possibly be expanded to reach a wider audience through expanded creative mediums, while saving the trees. Although I am an advocate for a more greener and sustainable world, I just hope they decide to print out their highly anticipated freshman class edition annually

Being that XXL has been a significant bridge between hip hop news and their fans, how do you think the digital only access will affect the magazine?
If you're an aspiring or are a journalist, how does this make you feel about the future of publication?
