Sports Illustrated Features First Plus Size Model for Swimsuit Issue

If you so happen to walk pass a news stand and briefly glance at a few of your favorite magazine covers, what do you notice at a first glance?  On almost every cover, you see an attractive woman gracing the cover, right? Well, what do you seem to notice about her? She's strikingly beautiful and skinny!  In today's society, in order for a woman to be considered for a chance to become a model, they must meet certain requirements such as having a pretty face, being 5'8"-5'11" tall, have healthy and flawless looking skin, and be skinny! Now, if you so happen to come across that same news stand on February 9th, check out the Sport's Illustrated annual swimsuit issue, you should take notice that a beautiful, curvaceous model by the name of Ashley Graham went against the grain and graced the ad embracing her body and looking flawless!

Who is Ashley Graham? Ashley is a Nebraska native who entered the modeling industry at the age of 12, when she was discovered at a mall.  Her resume includes some editorial, catalogue, runway, and commercial work.  She is well known for her work as a lingerie model for plus-size, retail clothing store, Lane Bryant.  Besides being a model, Ashley strives to be a role model teenage girls who have challenges with their body image and accepting themselves for who they are.

Sport's Illustrated is known for having beautiful, skinny models in their issues, but they decided to do something different by featuring an ad partnering with swimsuitsforall's campaign, #CurvesInBikinis. The swim line's bikini sizes will range from 10-34.  The Nebraska native will be the face for the campaign.  Ashley Graham embodies beauty inside and out, embraces her curves, and definitely isn't afraid to show what she's been blessed with!

Keep this in mind if you are feeling down about your image ladies, "It's not just about being healthy; it's also about loving who you are. If you don't love who you are, you are never going to feel 100 percent satisfied in life. It all starts with you. If you don't love you, nobody else is going to be able to."- Ashley Graham
