Adele's '25' Album Broke Sale Records In First Three Days Of Releasing

British, blue eyed soul singer is the characteristics that many used to describe Adele. She was and still is truly an artist to be reckoned with. Her unique voice and image was a much needed change from pop artists that typically makes it big. Adele’s Album 19 went from number 40 to number 1 on iTunes overnight as she skyrocketed into fame right after appearing on Saturday Night Live. The album went double platinum and won her two Grammys. Adele may have seemed to appear out of nowhere, but she would ensure that the world never forget her. Who could have predicted her most recent comeback single and album would triumph 2015? Her album 25 has sold almost 3.5 million records (sales totaled from Friday to Monday), breaking a record made by NSYNC in March of 2000. Their album No Strings Attached sold 2.415 million copies in its first week.

Adele has proven what a magnificent artist she is time and time again. Her music is inspired by artists like Elle Fitzgerald and Etta James. Similar to these artists, she rarely features other artist on her albums and her music is definitely different from today’s pop artist because she tends to tell real life stories. She did it with her first album 19 and again with her second album 21, both named after her age at the time they were recorded. She was quoted at the Grammys Award Ceremony in 2012 saying ‘This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone's been through it—just a rubbish relationship."

Her fan base wholeheartedly agreed because her second album sold 352,000 copies in its first week. The album landed her an achievement of two top 5 singles and a pair of top 5 albums in the same week making her the only artist besides the Beatles and 50 Cent to achieve such an accolade. 21 also broke the solo female artist record, a title that was only previously held by Madonna. In the last five years, other awards were also obtained including a boat load of Grammys. After this particular album Adele learned she had a polyp on her vocal chords. The polyp hemorrhaged and she underwent laser surgery. This news sent fans into a frenzy, concerned whether or not Adele would ever return to her music career.

She did return, however, with her hit single “Hello”. It was the first single ever to top 1 million downloads on iTunes in one week. "Hello" has also been #1 on the Billboard 100 charts for the past month straight.  Her success, her truth, and her vulnerability in the previous two albums had the world on the edge of their seats wondering when Adele will release her full album 25. She released her album on November 20, 2015, but only to outlets such as ITunes, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Google Play, and FYE. Rumor has it that she is waiting to release or may never release her full album to streaming services such as Spotify or Apple Music.

25  was originally projected by Sony to sale somewhere in the ball park of 2.5 million copies. This number would seem quite accurate seeing as she sold 1.9 million copies already. in less than a week, Adele has outsold 2014 and 2015's top selling artist Taylor Swift and do not foresee her sales slowing down anytime soon. Congratulations to Adele! May her success continue to skyrocket.
