The debut performance of The Wiz Live! has everyone talking. Celebrating 40 years since its broadway debut in 1975 The Wiz Live! is ready, set to honor the past and celebrate the present future of its legacy. The show will premiere on NBC December 3rd at 8pm, being the first live broadway performance airing primetime on television to have accessibilities to individuals with visual disabilities.
The Wiz Live! will surely capture a modern rendition of the original play. Executive producers Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, famous choreographer and creative director Fatima Robinson, director Kenny Leon, music producer Harvey Mason Jr. and music director Stephen Oremus are the creative minds behind the show.
Nineteen year old Shanice Williams is making her broadway debut as Dorothy. She will be accompanied by Queen Latifah (The Wiz), Mary J. Blige (Evillene). Uzo Aduba (Glinda), Elijah Kelley (Scarecrow), David Allen Grier (Cowardly Lion), Ne-Yo (Tinman), and the original broadway Dorothy now starring as Auntie Em, Stephanie Mills.
