A Timeline Of The Year Journey To Kanye West's "The Life Of Pablo"

The road to receiving Kanye West's seventh studio album has been a long one for fans. On the eve of releasing the album (February 11th), Kanye West would take to his Twitter account revealing the final title and tracklist of his album The Life Of Pablo. The album title would have made the forth change since first announcing the upcoming album nearly a year ago. In spite of the long, yet interesting journey to the music, those who've had an inside listen to the new body of work say it's worth the wait. We've backtracked some of Kanye West's major moments within the last year leading to his new album.

January-February 2015: Kanye West broke into 2015 strong which lead the music world to believe a new album would arrive that year. Releasing what fans thought would be his first single last January to his next album, "Only One" was a song that sort of came and went.

Then, Kanye teamed up with Rihanna and Paul McCartney for her single produced and co-written by him "FourFiveSeconds," which ended up being a pretty big song. The single even landed the three artist a performance spot at the Grammys. "FourFiveSeconds" hype eventually died down, and did not end up making the final cut for Rihanna's ANTI album, neither did Kanye West's executive production.

With New York Fashion Week and All Star Weekend being in the same city at the same time, was a great window of capitalization for Kanye. He jumped off the activities premiering his Yeezy Season 1 Fashion Show, showcasing products from his own personal designs along with his new partnership with Adidas. From a live stream of the fashion show, fans heard unreleased music. Later that day, he headlined the 1st Annual Roc City Classic Show in NYC for All Star Weekend, drawing more excitement for his upcoming album. Closing that weekend, Kanye performed a new single "Wolves" on Saturday Night Live with Vic Mensa and Sia.

Kanye guested on Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club" where he spoke on new music and caused social media controversy after saying he had to take "30 showers" after breaking up with Amber Rose.

March 2015:  Fans saw the light again once Kanye West tweeted a photo with a caption "New Album Title....So Help Me God." He followed up releasing a new single "All Day." Great track for radio and fiery award show performances, allowed "All Day" to carry Kanye through the summer.

April 2015: Kanye West announces along with several major artist he joins the Tidal team, a high quality music streaming service (aiming to benefit artist as well as subscribers) as a partner. Tidal was initially acquired from its UK owners by Jay Z and others.

In April, Kanye West covered TIME and Paper Magazine.

May 2015: Yeezy officially changes album name to SWISH, but tweets "I might change it again but that's the name now."

Kanye West reached a milestone in not just his career, but his life when he became Dr. West. He was awarded an honorary doctorates degree from the School of  Art Institute: Chicago.

June-September 2015: After dominating the first portion of the year with new business deals, fashion and music, the summer fairly quiet for Kanye, especially musically. The album still remained a mystery, now receiving hardly any updates.

In August, Mr. West receives the highest "Video Vanguard Award" at MTV's 2015 VMAs. He gave a memorable 11-minute speech/rant to declare he's running for president in 2020!

In September, Kanye heads back to NYC to debut his Yeezy Season 2 collection.

December 2015: As the year came to a close, West fans had just about given up any hope that there would be an album in 2015. He found it fitting to use he and his wife's social media handles to begin communicating straight to the people, which many fans appreciated. His only social media account Twitter, would be the direct source for all things Kanye West over the next two months.

Finally an update is given on his album after he tweets; "I'm finishing my album and my next collection..."
He drops a new single "Facts" New Year's Eve, a song that went to be a hit or miss on the internet, nonetheless fans were excited to receive new music.

January 2016:  As the anticipation for his 7th album begins to build up again, Kim Kardashian sikes fans into believing the return of G.O.O.D Fridays are back. If you're a true Kanye fan, you'd remember G.O.O.D Fridays were a series of singles released every Friday leading to a new album. Kanye releases "Real Friends" featuring Ty Dolla $ign and gives an intro to "No More Parties In LA."

A week later he releases "No More Parties In LA" featuring Kendrick Lamar, then reveals with a tweet the release date of the album: "Swish February 11 16."
Kanye began tweeting more than ever, series of photos from the studio, random thoughts and updates to the album's tracklist.

1/26: The third change to the album comes with a tweet: "New album title, WAVES."
The change of the album title, would turn into a classic Twitter beef, turned Kanye rant between him and Wiz Khalifa.
