Novel "True To The Game" Makes Its Way To Hollywood Silver Screens Over 20 Years Later

Popular 1994 novel 'True To The Game" is making its way to silver screens over twenty years of its release. "True to the Game," written by Teri Woods was adapted by veteran music exec Manny Halley for a film. Halley had the vision of obtaining the rights to one of his favorite books and creating a movie.

True to the Game follows the novels narrative of a love story between Quadir, a renowned Philly drug dealer and successful business man and Gena, a young Philly college student and aspiring writer. The novel is set in the 1980's, where the film is set in modern time. As Quadir and Gena's love prevails, crime, the drug game, and the tough Philly street life follows them.

True to the Game is directed by writer and producer best known for This Christmas, Preston A. Whitmore II. At the Hollywood premiere, Whitmore shared his excitement for the film's release while highly praising the cast and crew for working through the challenges faced in the process of creating the film. 

True to the Game star Columbus Short, Erica Peeples, Vivica A. Fox, Andra Fuller, Annika Noelle and Jamaar Simon. The movie also stars Malcolm D. Kelley, Starletta Dupois, Jennifer Freeman, Nelsan Ellis, Draya Michele, Nafessa Williams, Lisa Renee Pitts, Lorenzo Eduardo. The all star cast and crew did a great job of bringing the famous book to life. Preston Whitmore and Manny Halley made a special dedication to the film's cast member  Nelsan Ellis, who passed due to heart failure before the film's release.
