CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story Review by Mercedez Springer

Last night the film Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story broke ratings. It now has the title of the most watched original film in network history, and for many great reasons. Audiences all over were in awe of how cast members portrayed this multi-platinum award winning group, with performances by Keke Palmer as Rozanda "Chili" Thomas, Drew Sidora Tione "T-Boz" Watkins, and Natia "Lil mama" Kirkland as Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, nailing their roles made it all the more easier to watch. Kirkland portraying Lopes left viewers all over second guessing their previous judgment of the infamous Lil mama. Many had counted her out of ever being respected again in the entertainment industry after she stage bombed Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performance at the 2009 VMA awards. Her role as Left Eye has certainly made her a force to be reckoned. Millions watching reminisced to the groups many number one hit records from "Ain't to proud to Beg" to the infamous girl anthem "No Scrubs".

While some decided to watch with a group of girlfriends, or solo, I had the privilege to attend Suite Lounge in Atlanta, GA, where Carl Anthony Payne who played L.A. Reid in the film and Dallas Austin hosted a special private screening of the movie. When asked why the group decided to use VH1 to illustrate their story as oppose to making a film for theaters, Rozanda "Chili" Thomas reminded listeners on Power 105.1's the breakfast club "films like The Temptations, and The Jackson Five: An American Dream use networks such as VH1 because you can continuously see the film over and over for a multitude of years." We agree with you Chili, this is definitely a film for the classics, telling their story of the rising to fame however having to file chapter 11 bankruptcy, back round drama of the love romance between Chilli and Dallas Austin, and the ins and outs of T-Boz's sickle cell anemia, this film gave it to you raw and uncut. So much so that it is said that Peebles the group's first established manager maybe suing for defamation of character. Peebles was adamant on letting it be known that she didn't approve of her depiction in the film, so group members T-Boz and Chilli, had better watch their bank accounts yet again.

In closing ChicCritiques gives this film 4 shoes, it is definitely one for the archives, until next time.
