Transitioning from teenage television star to Hip-Hop rapper, the Canadian rapper was determined to make his voice heard and respected.
It's been a long time coming for Drake to finally be recognized and respected for his craft. With the help of his long time friend and producer Noah "40" Shebib, Drake has dominated the rap game since 2009. The mixtape had features from Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Bun B, Lloyd, Santigold, and Omarion.
Drake showed his versatility not only rapping but singing, giving the people everything from slow jamz, to Hip-Hop sounds from "Houstatlantavegas." So Far Gone reached more than just Hip-Hop fans.
So Far Gone included tracks such as "November 18th," "Say What's Real," "The Calm," "Uptown" and "A Night Off." His song "Successful" became an anthem that ended up being on Trey Songz' Ready album, and "Best I Ever Had," was Drake's first official radio hit!
Since So Far Gone's release in 2009, Drake is now a Grammy award winner with three number one albums under his belt. In 2013, was the year Drake was finally recognized as Hip-Hop royalty by the world and Hip-Hop heavy hitters such as Jay Z and Kanye West. He was also recognized on the cover of Vibe Magazine as "The Year Drake Became King."
