Cam Newton Makes a 6-Year Old's Dream Come True

                               Cam Newton George Gring
The media is often quick to jump on stories that usually have nothing to do with nothing! While those stories make headline news and good table talk, it's stories like these that often go unheard of, or aren't publicized enough. I came across a picture about a month ago with a story attached about a six year old boy named George Gring who met his favorite athlete Cam Newton. It instantly put a smile on my face.

George Gring is a Houston, Texas native that was diagnosed with lymphoma. Lymphoma is a rare cancer that attacks the immune system. Lymphoma formulates solid tumors within the immune system and typically does not develop in young children. Since George's family discovered his illness, he has undergone surgery and treatments to get him back to his regular life.

ESPN and NFL have been one of the many partners with Make A Wish Foundation to help children with illnesses like George's dreams come true. George is a huge fan of football and wanted to meet his favorite player Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. It was nothing for a guy like Cam Newton to be apart of making "Mighty George's" dream a reality.

The NFL and the Carolina Panthers wanted George to feel as if he was a true member of the team, announcing at this year's NFL Draft that George Gring was drafted as a Carolina Panther. His new teammate Cam ensured that would  have the best experience, getting him a custom pair of gold Under Armor practice cleats, a practice jersey and an exclusive tour of the Panthers locker room. George was able to get on the field and practice with team during their summer practice session.

Cam Newton has shown throughout his career he has a heart that shines just as big as his smile. The Cam New Foundation focuses on giving back to children and teenagers in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama areas. Cam Newton's foundation host events and programs that assist with health/fitness, education, and sports.

Cam Newton wasn't the only one George was anticipated to meet, he also looked forward to meeting the Panthers mascot Sir Purr! George's day was something he will always remember. More importantly George is one of the many children who face life-threatening illnesses every single day and remains in high spirits. We send our best to "Mighty" George and his family! Watch the George's story below and see the full episode on ESPN.
