10 of the Summer's Hottest Songs

This past summer had your playlist blazing with hot new hip-hop and R&B. With this being said, I've compiled a list of the hottest songs of the summer. I've compiled a list, in no particular order, of some of the must-hear tunes of this past season. This list is composed of artists from the likes of Iggy Azalea, Young Jeezy, and Young Thug.

  • Fancy by Iggy Azalea
    • First things first, Iggy's Fancy took the nation by storm with this hit single. It's catchy beat and lyrics made this an instant club banger, and still continues to be on the playlist at parties.
  • Seen it All by Young Jeezy featuring Jay-Z
    • Young Jeezy's experience in the streets and in music has compelled him to give us this hit featuring an artist with a similar past, Jay -Z. Whether you're trying to complete the last part of your exercise or just cruising around in the city, this song is guaranteed to have you thinking you were in the same trap. This song also gave us Jay-Z from the 90's.
  • Stay With Me by Sam Smith
    • This song kicked off summer with it's smooth melody and heart wrenching lyrics making this an anthem for couples or your typical hopeless romantic.
  • Hot N*gga by Bobby Schmurda
    • Every time the intro alarms enter my ears, I immediately begin to assume the position to do perform the schmoney. This song will definitely be one of those songs in which we will tell our children twenty years from now,"You don't know nothin' about this", as we begin to hit the shmoney dance.
  • Lifestyle by Rich Gang featuring Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug
    • I picked Lifestyle for it's motivational message. Whether I'm in the club or needing a pick me up, this song always gets excited to be alive and happy in the moment.
  • About the Money by T.I. and Young Thug
    • This collaboration is a personal favorite, due to it's electric beat and message. I listen to this daily as motivation to drown out useless conversations and actions "if it ain't about the money."
  • 2 On by Tinashe featuring School Boy Q
    • Although I am rhythmless, every time 2 on plays I automatically feel the need to dance or either to enjoy life in the moment.
  • Studio by School Boy Q featuring BJ
    • School Boy Q started everyone's summer with this smooth jam with a hint of cool. This song will surely set the vibe for any occasion.
  • Money Can't Buy by Ne-Yo featuring Young Jeezy
    • NeYo and Young Jeezy have teamed up to create this amazing hit paying homage to women everywhere. It is a perfect mixture of Ne-Yo's R&B soul and Jeezy's hip hop roots.
  • Don't Tell Em' by Jeremih featuring YG
    • Preparing for his new album Late Nights The Album, Jeremih teamed up with one of Hip-Hop's hottest rapper's YG for the #1 song of the summer, literally. The song Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Karlie Redd says was inspired by her, become a banger in the clubs, the car, and the house.
Bonus:
 0-100 by Drake
  • Drake started off everyone's summer off right when he dropped this first gem as a prelude to his forthcoming album. The song begins upbeat then slows down as it comes to a close, going from 100 to 0, real quick.
What songs do you think should be added to the list? What song(s) enhanced your summer 2014 experience?
