J. Cole's '2014 Forest Hills Drive' Album Goes Platinum

"Good things come to those who stay true." Words quoted by the late Tupac, finds its way to being totally applicable to North Carolina's own J. Cole. His junior album '2014 Forest Hills Drive' is now certified platinum! Putting his all into his dreams and letting go the anticipation for mainstream success, Cole's latest album has awarded him more than he could've asked for. His first two albums, deemed certified gold selling over 700,000 units a piece. Releasing his third album mid-December 2014, J. Cole's album immediately began doing numbers, breaking Spotify records and going gold within the first few weeks.

Big Sean is really winning! The press seems to be loving him these days and he has one of the hottest songs out right now. If no one payed attention to him before, Sean is proving once and for all he is one of the best artist in Hip-Hop currently with his new album. His song "Blessings" featuring Drake & Kanye West is heating up the charts, clubs, and radio with Drake's catchy hook. "Blessings" is the second radio released single from his third album Dark Sky Paradise, which debuted as his first #1 album. Pretty sure his first platinum single "IDFWU" helped Sean sell over 130,000 copies his first week.

Kendrick Lamar "The Blacker The Berry"

Kendrick Lamar hasn't spoken much regarding his new album, which leaves fans lots of room to speculate on what to expect. His first self love single "i" lead him to win his first two Grammy's at this year's show for "Best Rap Song" and "Best Rap Performance." Late last year, he appeared on The Colbert Report performing a powerful untitled song. Today, he released another powerful single "The Blacker The Berry" that will place him another rank closer to being the best lyricist out now.

The group that put the west coast on the map in the 1980s is coming to the big screen this fall to finally share their story. The story of N.W.A will explore what it was like for five young black males, from Compton, California during a time they felt black lives didn't matter. Universal Pictures presents Straight Outta Compton, produced by former group members Ice Cue and Dr. Dre, executive produced by one of the hottest producers in film currently Will Packer.

Ludacris Wins Primary Custody of 1-Year Old Daughter

Christopher Bridges aka Ludacris has had an interesting start of the New Year. Ludacris married longtime girlfriend, Eudoxie Mbouguiengue and has now won primary custody of 1-year old daughter, Cai Bridges. After a short yet messy court custody battle, with his child's mother Tamika Fuller, the rapper/actor now holds physical custody of his child. The court apperance that began as Fuller's intent to gain more child support money from Luda, ended with her losing custody of her child. Whoaa!

A lot right? Well Big Sean says its his turn now. This week he announced the title for his new album dropping February 24th, Dark Sky Paradise.

He exuded a different energy this week on the Ellen premiering a very special video dedicated to his late mother Donda West and his daughter North West "Only One." Kanye performs the song to his daughter through the words of his mother.

Mississppi rapper Big K.R.I.T has added himself to the list of Hip-Hop artist making political statements on late night television. Still promoting his latest album Cadillactica, he performed his single "Soul Food" with legendary The Roots and Raphael Saadiq on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" this week. His song "Soul Food" speaks an underline message that matched perfectly with his t-shirt.

Kanye West Brings In The New Year with "Only One" ft. Paul McCartney

Kanye West laid pretty low musically in 2014, so it is no surprise he wanted to make sure that the first thing the game was talking about in 2015 was him. As many were ringing in the new year at midnight out on the town, Kanye released a new heart filled track "Only One" to his website and iTunes. Ye teamed up with the legendary Paul McCartney for this special song. The song channels an emotional auto-tuned 808s and Heartbreak Kanye. He wrote the song as the voice of his late mother Donda speaking to his daughter North West.

Rapper Jay Electronica Speaks Out; "Shut The F**k Up With That Black On Black BS"

Roc Nation rapper Jay Electronica took to Facebook to express his feelings on the reason why American's cannot blame blacks for black on black crime. With so much social injustices going on not just in America, but around the world, every one is quick to point the finger. In the recent cases of police killings of unarmed citizens around the country Americans are seeking to get to the root of the problem. Unfortunately, the justice system, law enforcement or the government is not stepping up to take accountability nor providing realistic solutions to the issues. Instead we often see excuses that attempts to justify harmful acts against African Americans and persons of color with "they kill each other because they don't value their own life." I'm sure you've seen that a million times. Jay Electronica gave a very interesting perspective on why that excuse won't work.

Kendrick Lamar may just have one of the best songs of the year with his single "i." The genre-less upbeat song combines a collective of sounds that make you feel good and love yourself. The visual matches perfectly with the single, shot in the heart of Los Angeles .The good kid switches it up on us, by dancing his way through the "mad" city of LA in the video. Kendrick's video displays a sense of comradery within the black community in a positive way, while still embracing different walks of life. Kendrick blends the lines of color-ism and fills it with rhythm, blues, free-spirit and soul. Hense the sample of the legendary Isley Brothers "That Lady," Kendrick takes a ride through LA with Ron Isley himself.

Nicki Minaj has dropped another hot single from her upcoming album The Pink Print. The barb teamed up with some of her homies, fellow Young Money members Drake & Lil Wayne, as well as her friend Chris Brown (nice to see Breezy & Drizzy on a song together). It was announced yesterday that her and boss man Lil Wayne would be pushing their albums back again. The Pinkprint is now scheduled to release December 15th, while Tha Carter V was originally scheduled to release October 28th but has been reset for release in November. Nicki starts her new single "Only" off strong, putting anyone in their place that ever questioned her relationship with Drake & Wayne, stating she never had "relations" with Wayne or Drake.

Besides touring and hosting some of the hottest parties this year, we have heard very little from Mr. Thanksgiving, DJ Drama on the music side. Serving as one of Atlantic Records A&Rs, he's been busy in the studio putting in work. Drama is rallying up Hip-Hop's heavy weights for the follow up to his 2012 album Quality Street Music which entitled hits such as "We In This B*cth" and "My Moment." DJ Drama is giving the streets the first single off of his new album Quality Street Music 2, "Right Back" featuring Atlanta's own Jeezy, Young Thug, and Rich Homie Quan.

Outkast Announces Full Lineup For #ATLast Weekend

Earlier this summer, we announced Hip-Hop duo Outkast would be holding a major concert in their hometown Atlanta, GA in celebration of the 20th anniversary year of their debut album SouthernPlaylistCadaliacMuzik. Outkast #ATLast, was originally set for Friday, September 26th at Centennial Olympic Park in heart of downtown Atlanta. After selling out of tickets in less than one hour, the group added a second show for Saturday, but that still wasn't enough for fellow Atliens. The group added a third show, officially turning Atlanta into Outkast weekend! Yesterday, the group confirmed the feature artist that will be joining them during this weekend's shows.

Kendrick Lamar uplifted the world this morning, releasing the first single off of his upcoming sophomore album "i." Last week, Kendrick released the cover art for the single appearing to symbolize two opposing gang members displaying love. The single "i" is something refreshing to Hip Hop music, sampling the Isley Brothers "Who's That Lady," with a combination of up-tempo beats and instruments. The song empowers it's listeners to love themselves with a groovy vibe, with the chorus repeating "I love myself!"

Lecrae's "Anomaly" Hits #1

It is amazing to see God's grace manifested in ones everyday life, and into album sales. Lecrae's album Anomaly hit #1 on Bilboard's top 200. Along with this phenomenal feat Lecrae has released "Non-Fiction" for free. He promised that if the album reached number on that a free unheard song would be released. Check out the song below:
