Kendrick Lamar uplifted the world this morning, releasing the first single off of his upcoming sophomore album "i." Last week, Kendrick released the cover art for the single appearing to symbolize two opposing gang members displaying love. The single "i" is something refreshing to Hip Hop music, sampling the Isley Brothers "Who's That Lady," with a combination of up-tempo beats and instruments. The song empowers it's listeners to love themselves with a groovy vibe, with the chorus repeating "I love myself!"
The song opens with a speaker introducing Kendrick Lamar saying:
"We got a brother that stands for something!"
"He's not a rapper, he's a writer"
"We'll love how to love one another, but you can't do that until you love yourself first."
Although there are little details on Kendrick's upcoming album, we know it's on the way! Are you feeling his new single "i?" Let us know what you think!
