Officers Responsible for Killing John Crawford Not Indicted

On Aug. 5, 2014 John Crawford was shot and killed in Ohio WalMart by police officers. On Wednesday, the grand jury decided not to indict the police officers after the shooting in WalMart and the consequent death of Crawford.

The police officers said they answered a 911 call from a customer in WalMart claiming that Crawford was armed. Subsequently, the officers felt compelled to shoot, after Crawford neglected to follow their instructions and put down his gun. Later evidence showed that his gun was an air rifle that shoots BBs , not to mention, the video footage merely shows Crawford walking through the aisles of the store in an innocent manner.

Despite the video footage and eye witnesses on behalf of Crawford's innocence, the officers were still released. This is another unfortunate killing of a Black man due to White police officers. Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown were two young Black men who were killed in the same devastating manner in recent news. There seems to be sad trend occurring in America, in which Black men are never truly safe.
