On Wednesdays at 9/8c, most people are tuned into FOX's newest and hottest hip-hop drama Empire! It's storyline is based around the life of Lucious Lyon, the head of a music empire (ironically called Empire), who endures a brewing conflict with his ex-wife and three sons, battling for his throne. This newest drama has been making headlines on and off screen! Empire includes beats and songs composed by legendary producer Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley. It also includes a cast with a few all-star, household names such as Academy Award nominee and actress, Taraji P. Henson and Golden Globe nominee and actor Terrence Howard.
Empire's ratings have been sky high from the beginning and continue to increase with each week thus far. According to USA Today, when the drama first premiered on January 7th, 2015, Empire caught the attention of 9.9 million viewers. On January 14th, 10.3 million viewers were tuned into Empire. Last night's episode had an average of 10.9 million viewers. Empire's great ratings for the past three weeks impressed Fox and Empire executives so much that they decided an early renewal for season two.
Is it too early to say, that Empire seems to be on it's way to being called a "hit?" What do you think?
