If you played with Barbies as a young child, you can imagine the excitement it is to have one created of you. Barbie recently announced its 2015 campaign to honor six "Sheroes," inspiring women who are expanding possibilities and breaking barriers for young girls & women. Director of award-winning film "SELMA" Ava DuVernay made the cut as one of this year's Sheroes and stands as the only woman of color among the honorees.

The women will be honored at the Variety of Power Women's Luncheon where the dolls will be revealed. Following the awards ceremony, each honoree will auction off their doll to a charity of their choice. "For more than five decades, Barbie has encouraged girls to dream and imagine themselves as everything from a mermaid to a movie star, a fairy to a fashionista and a princess to a president. Embodying the empowerment message the brand stands behind, Barbie is honoring these Sheroes who, like Barbie, have broken boundaries, challenged gender norms and proven girls can be anything they want to be" in a press statement from Mattel.

Ava DuVernay: Director of "SELMA" and founder of African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement, which provides opportunities and resources to underrepresented filmmakers. Emmy Rossum; Actress and spokesperson for Best Friends Animal Society. Eva Chen; Youngest appointed female Editor-in-Chief of a national fashion magazine, LuckyKristin Chenoweth; Broadway actress and founder of the Kristin Chenoweth Art & Education Fund. Sydney “Mayhem” Keiser; Five year-old fashion designer. Trisha Yearwood; Country artist, author, Food Network host

The copies of the DVD will be accompanied with a study guide and lesson for teachers. Wonderful!
