If you were between the ages of 5-13 between the years of 2000-2004, you should remember the following lyrics: " Criminals, get twisted, this superhero gifted, bell rings and I'm back in school, Nobody know what I do, ok. Superhero Static Shock (woo woo)". Static Shock may be making a comeback, but as a live-action series, starring Jaden Smith as Virgil Hawkins aka "Static Shock".

Based on the Milestones/DC Comics character, Static Shock was an animated television series, produced by Warner Bros. Animation in 2000, full of adventure surrounding the first African-American teenage superhero. Virgil Hawkins aka "Static Shock", was a 14-year old teenager who lived a normal high school life until he was n a situation where he contracted a mutation gene that resulted him to obtain the ability to create, generate, absorb, and control electricity and magnetism. Static Shock's last episode aired on May 22nd, 2004.

Now, rumors have been swirling around about an upcoming revival of the show, but as a live-action series.  The rumor also included a possible lead to star as the superhero: Jaden Smith! Jaden Smith is the son of one of Hollywood's most respected couples, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.  Jaden Smith is a rapper and he also took after his parents in acting, starring in films such as After Earth, The Karate Kid, and The Pursuit of Happiness. It has not been confirmed by Warner Bros., but actor Tyler James Williams may have spilled the tea in a recent interview with Flicks and the City stating the following:

"It's great to see "Static Shock" is happening with Jaden."

Let's hope that the rumors are true!
