Many of you may remember the 1992 hit film Sister Act starring Whoopi Goldberg, Maggie Smith, and Kathy Najimi, right? If not, don't worry because Disney is planning to make a remake of the film!
Sister Act was an Emile Ardolino directed film based on a fictional story line about a lounge singer named Deloris Van Carter (Goldberg), who became a nun under the witness protection program after witnessing her mobster boyfriend commit murder. She then contributes her singing talents to the convent's choir, which turns into a successful choir in the neighborhood. The film generated $232 million worldwide, turned into a Broadway musical in 2011, and was followed with a 1993 sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which generated $57 million in the U.S.
On June 2nd, Disney confirmed about the film's remake. It will have the help from producer Ally Sherman, who produced Cinderella, and writers Kristen Smith and Carol McCullah, who wrote Legally Blonde. At this point, the details about the remake are very scarce and it is unsure if Whoopi Goldberg will be in the remake.
Thoughts on who you think should be in the remake?
