The dopest film of the summer is on its way to a theater near you! Dope is sure to attract the coolest, liberated, colorful, and outgoing kids immersed in Hip Hop culture. The comedic-drama/thriller will have you dancing, reflecting on 1990's fashion, and rethinking the topic for your next school paper. Dope introduces an all-star cast of young talent to the big screen, backed by some of industry's veterans entertainers (Forest Whitaker, Pharrell Williams, Rick Famuyiwa, Sean Combs). We recently had a chance to catch an early screening of the film "Dope" with the lead character Shameik Moore, writer/director Rick Famuyiwa, and supporting character rapper Kap G.
The selection for the film's title is dope, literally. The symbolism for the film's title is revealed more than one way and creatively connects with the storyline of the film. The man behind Dope, Rick Famuyiwa has created former classics such as "The Wood" and "Brown Sugar." Following the success of Sundance and other film festivals, Dope will hit theaters nationwide June 19th.
