Roof recently landed back in Charleston, SC in police custody this evening after being caught in Shelby, NC this afternoon. He was spotted by a woman at a traffic light, where she immediately took his licenses plate number and called the local authorities. At the time of his arrest, a gun and drugs were found in his car. According to news sources Roof was in Charlotte, NC around 5:30 this morning where he was tracked using the ATM. We do not know yet where he was heading too.
Details regarding last night's events are still pending. Once social media learned of last night's mass murder, thousands of controversy and outraged took place over the internet. Of course mass media has already began making excuses as to what would possess someone to murder anyone in a church. Dylann Roof has had a troubled past growing up, has been arrested twice this year and has had friends come forth admitting he's a racist, why are we covering for this young man?
The key problem many are having with this situation is that Roof's white privilege has allowed him to live long enough to be arrested and will most likely not suffer as severe consequences as a black male the same age as him. This act of terrorism is completely unacceptable.
Here's some interesting facts about Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The church is one of the oldest southern churches founded in the 1800s. Emmanuel AME was burnt down by whites in the 1800s and rebuilt after the civil war. The church resides in historic Charleston, SC on Calhoun Street which is named after one of the most well known leaders and activists FOR slavery during the early to mid 1800s John Calhoun.
Although this awful event took place in a church, believers still continue to lift these individuals the enemy is working through in prayer as well as protection & peace over all people in this world. Pray for the evil that is seen and unseen. We send our condolences to the family, loved ones and community affected by this senseless act of violence.
